YouTube: Home Office Makeover & Making Upcycled Mood Boards

Come on a road trip to Brisbane with me on YouTube!

When my friend Jacqui asked me to help her make some Mood Boards for her home office, I was so exited and knew it would make a fun episode for my YouTube Channel “Always Making”! We both wanted to add an element of upcycling so we decided to use thrifted fabric we picked up at a charity store. And that's not all. I decided to give her home office a complete makeover! There was a reason why she barely used the space (it was dark and the layout was awkward) but all I could see was potential. I rolled up my sleeves and overhauled her home office, transforming it into a beautiful, functional space she can work from, have meetings, creatively brainstorm and update her mood boards. And when she leaves at the end of the day, she can simply close the door and not think about work until the following morning.

What I love most about this episode (other than our charity shop haul, Jacqui's dog Basil, the view from her house, the lunch she cooked us) is that you can totally make the Upcycled Mood Boards to suit your own style and needs. You can change the size depending on your own space, cut a bespoke shape like an arch, choose your favourite fabric, like stripes or checkers, or forgo fabric altogether and paint the foam.

I really hope this project inspires you to make your own Upcycled Mood Boards and give your home office a little makeover; you'll find the links to the materials and tools we used in the YT episode description. I can’t wait to see you create. Happy making!

What’s happening over on YouTube?

Every month I'll be going to someone's house and helping them upcycle a piece of furniture or home decor they no longer love, but don't want to throw out in favour of buying something else. I’ll also be doing lots of affordable and approachable room makeovers and transformations - stay tuned!

Watch the episode.
