No Sew Upcycled Bolster Cushion Armchair

The wait is finally over!

My bolster cushion armchair is finally finished, and you won't want to miss this. I've been dreaming about this upcycled project for over a year, and it's been quite the journey. Cylindrical foam is expensive, and after months of searching and almost resorting to buying rollers you use for your muscles (I was feeling pretty desperate, guys), I finally found some affordable foam. Read on to see how it all came together.

How To

Step 1: Place a drop sheet on your workbench. Using a drill, remove the seat from the frame and set it aside. Wipe the frame clean with a damp cloth. Using a paint brush, apply two coats of black chalkboard paint over the frame. This will give the frame a wrought iron look. Let the paint dry between coats. Apply two coats of clear sealer all over the frame. Set aside to dry.

Step 2: Measure and cut the bolster cushion foam using a ruler, pen, and sharp knife. Cut the teddy fabric using fabric scissors and glue it to the foam bolster cushions using self-adhesive foam. Cover the seat using the teddy fabric, which was secured using the frame.

Step 3: Assemble the seat back onto the frame using a drill. Simply place the fabric covered bolster cushions onto each armrest. And that's it!

Ta daaa!

I had so much fun bringing my idea to life - using bolster cushions on furniture as an accent. I love that there is no sewing involved and that its easy to apply the teddy to the foam bolsters using adhesive spray. I also want to say a huge thank you to everyone who voted for me to cut the foam and expose the frame from the front rather than hide it. Almost 1,000 people voted! I think it looks absolutely gorgeous!
