Dusty’s Colourful Bedroom Makeover

The paint is dry, the bed is made, the toys are in, and Dusty’s colourful bedroom is finally ready!

After cleaning out Dusty’s bedroom and moving his bed around, I couldn’t stop thinking about transforming it into a cosy, creative space. Naturally, my colour-obsessed brain went into overdrive so I asked him to choose his 3 favourite colours - he chose red, blue and yellow. I wanted his room to feel like a big hug, and thanks to you guys, I took the plunge and colour-drenched his bedroom in a gorgeous dusty blue. And as always, I had my favourite Monarch painting tools by my side. I cut in and painted the ceiling first, then tackled the walls. My stand-out product was Monarch’s Walls & Ceilings Mini Roller, which makes painting those hard-to-reach areas above windows, doors and wardrobes a breeze!

And then I went on a mission one thrift store treasure at a time to create a playful space. First on the agenda was a desk. I revived a console table I upcycled three years ago using a fresh lick of butter yellow paint. I painted stripes onto second-hand skateboard decks and turned them into shelves using rope. And I filled thrifted frames (which I also painted!) with all the things he loves, including his art, a vintage photo of Elvis and basketball cards I collected as a little kid - 30 years ago! Dusty’s bedroom is now a riot of fun, all thanks to Monarch, paint and some epic secondhand finds. I’m so proud to make a space for him where he can relax, create, play, read and dream.

To see how it all came together, watch this and this.
