Let’s make a candle wall sconce using a thrifted metal plate

I am so in love with candle wall sconces and decided to make one using a metal plate I found at a charity shop for only $2. I couldn’t believe my luck! Best of all? It’s actually from Target. We don’t have a Target where I live, so I was thrilled when I found it while thrifting. Keep reading to find out how to make your own DIY Candle Wall Sconce.

Before & After

Project Details

♻️ Makng: DIY Candle Wall Sconce

🕒 Project Time Estimate: 45 minutes

🪑 Skill Level: Beginner

💰 Materials Cost: $

Materials

  • Bracket

  • Gold spray paint

  • Construction adhesive

  • Metal plate (if you can thrift one for less, yay!)

  • Candle holder

  • 3 x Picture hanging strip sets

  • Tapered candle

How To

Step 1: Apply two light coats of gold spray paint all over the bracket.

Step 2: Apply construction adhesive onto the bracket and place the metal plate on top. Stand the plate up against a wall and set aside for the glue to cure for at least an hour.

Step 3: While the construction adhesive is drying, apply more to the bracket and place the candle holder on top. Wait for the glue to cure for at least an hour or until the glue has set before moving on to the next step.

Step 4: Carefully turn the plate over and apply 3 x double-sided velcro strip sets onto the back. Flip the candle wall sconce over and hang it on the wall.

Step 5: Place a tapered candle into the candle holder, and that’s it.

Ta daaa!

There’s nothing better than having an idea in your head for a long time and making it happen. It brings me so much joy and satisfaction because it means that while it can take a lot of time sourcing, making, problem-solving and finally bringing a project to life, it’s very easy for you to gather the materials and get making. I hope this project has got you wanting to make this DIY Candle Wall Sconce or perhaps inspired you to come up with a design yourself. If you do make one, remember to share it with me over on Instagram. I love seeing the projects you recreate!
