YouTube: Making An Timber Stained Striped Side Table

Let’s make a side table - from scratch!

I am so excited about this month’s “Always Making” YouTube episode because I get to make a side table from scratch for my friend Aimee and finally, one year after sharing my crazy idea of using timber stain to create a striped pattern, I get to bring my idea to life.

A few months ago Aimee got in touch to ask if I could help her upcycle a bedside table or a side table for her home; obviously I said yes! She sent me some reference images (notably Worn Store's Delphina Stripe Plinth and Sarah Ellison's Pepe Side Table) and I immediately knew this would be the perfect opportunity to bring my idea to life - using timber stain to create a striped pattern. I went sourcing over the course of a few weekends and couldn't find something I loved that we could upcycle. However, when I stumbled across a round pine panel in my studio, I knew straight away that we should make her a side table!

I really hope this episode inspires you to make your own DIY Timber Stained Striped Side Table. You'll find the link to the materials and tools I used in the episode description, and I can't wait to see what you create. And remember to Like and Subscribe so you never miss an episode! Happy making!

What’s happening over on YouTube?

Every month I go to someone's house and help them DIY and upcycle their dream piece of furniture from scratch, or upcycle something they no longer love, but don't want to throw out in favour of buying something else, and transform it into something beautiful and new.
