Making DIY Fabric Wrapped Baubles
Hide ugly baubles using fabric and ribbon!
Christmas is my favourite time of the year and whether it’s making a wreath using baubles I found at a charity shop or making ornaments using clay, I love getting crafty. This year I bought new baubles (shock, horror!) because I fell in love with the muted silver and gold tones. But I felt like they needed some depth and colour. I realised I had some burgundy corduroy fabric in my studio and wondered if I could wrap some of them using ribbon, so off I went. Read on to find out how you can make your very own festive DIY Fabric Wrapped Baubles. Hint: It’s so easy!

DIY Fabric Wrapped Baubles
Project Details
✂️ Making: DIY Fabric Wrapped Baubles
🕒 Project Time Estimate: 30 minutes
💰 Materials Cost: $20
💡 Bonus Idea: You can change the colours of the baubles by using different colour fabric and ribbons.
Materials
Fishing line, or rope, string or ribbon
Scissors
Fabric
Ribbon
Tools
RYOBI ONE+Hot Glue Gun and glue sticks
How To
Step 1: Start by threading ribbon, rope, string or fishing line through the attachment at the top of each ornament. Set the ornaments aside.
Step 2: Cut the fabric into large squares so you have enough pieces for each bauble. Make sure you cut the fabric wide enough to wrap each bauble so there is plenty of fabric left at the top so you are able to tie a ribbon around it.
Step 3: Place one square piece of fabric face down (best side down) onto your work bench. Place a blob of glue from the hot glue gun into the centre of the fabric. Quickly place the bauble directly on top of the hot glue making sure the bauble attachment and fishining are on the top. Wait a few seconds for the glue to dry.
Step 4: Hold the fishing line and fold the corners into the bauble. Hold the fabric tight and wrap a piece of ribbon around the fabric and tie a double knot, followed by a bow. Repeat so you have two bows on either side of the fabric bauble, this is so no matter what Christmas Tree you hang the baubles from you will always be able to see a bow - but only tie one bow if you think you only need one, and not two. And that’s it!
The Reveal
I’ve made a few DIY and upcycled baubles in my time and I have to admit these are my favourite because they they were so easy to make and look the most beautiful. This is also one of those projects I love because you can use any fabric you may already have at home, any colour or pattern, any ribbon as well. Maybe you want to use rope, string or jute instead of the fabric bow. There are just so many options to make these depending on your own festive style, and I LOVE that!
