Making a DIY Breeze Block Side Table (in less than 5 minutes!)

Let's make a side table in less than 5 minutes. You may remember a few weeks ago I came across some breeze blocks at Bunnings, so I decided to see what I could make with them. I made DIY Breeze Block Shelves for my first project, which you can also check out here. And today I decided to make a quick side table using these breeze blocks and only 2 other materials. Read on to find our how it all came together.

What are breeze blocks?
They are patterned blocks of concrete that when stacked on top of each other provide air circulation, privacy and shade to buildings. They’re an important to mid century modern design up until the 1970s when they began to fall out of style and were inspired by sun-reducing screens in Asia and first used in America in the 1930s. They’ve seen a rise in popularity in the last couple of decades and people have also been using them to design furniture for a long time too.

How To
Step 1: Start by placing the first breeze block flat on the floor where you would like the side table to be and from there, stack the rest on top making sure they are positioned perfectly on top of each other.
Step 2: Place one door buffer onto each corner of the top breeze block. Place the clear polycarbonate panel on top. And that’s it!
Ta daaaa!
This is without a doubt the easiest and quickest DIY project I’ve ever shared here. I love the texture and colour of the concrete, the layered breeze blocks from the side and being able to see down through the breeze blocks from the top. Most furniture using these blocks focus on seeing the breeze block from the sides, but I really wanted to try something different and I think it works beautifully.
