Christmas: DIY Dried Lemon Holiday Garland
Leave no dried lemons behind! You guys know how much we love dried citrus - (have you tried our Zesty Lemon No Bake Cheesecake yet?). And this holiday, we knew we wanted to get creative and make something festive for our Christmas tablescape using dried lemons. We had our family come over for Christmas lunch yesterday and about an hour before everyone came over, we found some time to quickly make these gorgeous DIY Dried Lemon Holiday Garlands using dried lemons from our friends at Mary Valley Food Co.
We've been wanting to make a different garland for Christmas and knew these dried lemons would be perfect. The aroma of the garland was so delicious and best of all, this is a project that doesn't go to waste - we popped the lemons off the string as the margaritas flowed and any we had left over, we popped them back into the glass jar they came in. This project was so much fun and offered a different spin to our Christmas tablescape! Read on for the materials and steps.
Materials
6m string (cotton or jute)
Mary Valley Food Co dried lemons (they also have dried oranges, pineapples and limes, which would also be perfect for this project)
Wooden beads from Kmart
Skewer
Scissors
3M hooks
Steps
Cut the string into 3 equal parts.
Using the skewer, push a hole through the top and the bottom of each slice of dried lemon.
Tie a double knot at the end of the string, and thread the string through the dried lemons, followed by the wooden beads. You can create any pattern you like! You'll notice the three garlands we made each have a different design.
When you are finished threading the beads and dried lemon slices onto the string, double knot the end to tie it off.
Place your 3M hooks where you want to hang the garlands.
Tie the garlands to the 3M hooks.
Enjoy!
