DIY Wax Sheet Decorated Candles

I am so excited to share my latest project with you - my DIY Wax Sheet Decorated Candles! A little while ago I was online looking to buy candles for our outdoor table and I came across coloured wax sheets, which are thin, soft sheets of wax that are perfect for decorating candles. I didn't have a plan in mind but I knew I had to grab a couple of packets. They arrived a few days ago and I finally got round to experimenting with them. And boy oh boy I had so much fun! I had so much fun giving my tapered candles a little glow up and I cannot believe how stunning they look! This is definitely one of those quick and easy projects where you can settle into at home and simply enjoy. All you need is a craft knife, a chopping board and candles to place your wax sheet art onto. Read on to find out how you can make these easy yet totally stunning DIY Wax Sheet Decorated Candles.

Materials

Candles (I got mine last year from here)
Wax sheets (I got mine from here)
Craft knife
Chopping board or cutting mat

How To

Before you get started, have a design idea in mind. I love organic, rounded shapes so that's what I created. If you're feeling a bit hesitant to dive in, use a pen and paper to map out how you would like the candles to be decorated.

When you're ready, use the craft knife to cut out your desired shape. I found it easy to move the wax sheet around as I did this, but you may find it easier to tape the wax sheet down to your chopping board or cutting mat.

Using the tip of your craft knife or gently curve the wax sheet with your fingers to remove the wax from the wax sheet.

This next step is important for a beautiful finish. Flip the piece of wax over then firmly press it onto the candle. If you place the piece of was facing up, the craft knife carvings will show up more, whereas if you flip it over, the wax is a lot cleaner around the edges. Keep cutting out your shapes and putting them onto the candle until you've finished decorating the candle.

Tip: If you aren't happy with the placement of the wax decorating, use the pointy tip of the craft knife to remove it and reapply. Try not to use your fingers as you may affect the integrity of your wax decoration.

I cannot believe how stunning these candles look! I am so excited that a simple sheet of coloured wax could transform these candles so beautifully, and quickly! I am so happy with how they turned out; this is such a fun yet totally satisfying DIY. Full disclosure, I am not good at drawing at all so if I can make mine look great, you can too.What I love most about this DIY is that the wax sheets are totally easy to work with, you can cut out any shapes you like, you can decorate any sized candles, and work with yourfavourite wax sheetcolours.
